FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR

🌟 2026 Firefighter of the Year & Lifetime Achievment Award Program

Even though the snow is still falling, spring will be here before we know it — and that means it’s time to begin preparations for the 2026 Firefighter of the Year (FFOY) and Length of Active Firefighting Award (LFAA) program.

We are excited to officially kick off this year’s nomination period and encourage all departments and associations to begin submitting their applications.

📋 What’s New for 2026

  • Updated hard-copy application, including revised letter and program rules

  • Updated online application form (which worked very well last year)

  • Continued streamlined program format to keep the event efficient and meaningful

Please note: There will be NO hard copies mailed to departments this year. All materials will be available online.

We had strong participation last year and are hoping to see similar — or even greater — engagement in 2026.
